How to Clean Your Glasses the Right Way
Clean lenses are the difference between eyewear that feels invisible and eyewear that nags at you all day. The routine below takes under a minute.
Every day
- Rinse both lenses under lukewarm tap water to float away dust and grit.
- Add a single small drop of lotion-free dish soap to each lens and rub gently with clean fingertips.
- Rinse again, then dry with a clean microfibre cloth — not tissue, paper towel or the hem of a shirt.
What to avoid
- Dry-wiping dusty lenses. Loose particles act like sandpaper against anti-reflective coatings.
- Household glass cleaners with ammonia, which can degrade lens coatings over time.
- Leaving glasses face-down on a hard surface.
Store your glasses in a hard case when they are not on your face, and keep a spare microfibre cloth wherever you spend most of your day.
